Heading on a night out in Bangor and looking for the best places to visit? If so, you’ve come to the right place.
Bangor is a brilliant city and is situated in North West Wales. It’s the home of over 10,000 students who flock here from all over the world to study at Bangor University.
We have four centrally located student properties in Bangor, and lucky for you, our team is well rehearsed on the popular venues to visit amongst students and locals alike.
Whether you enjoy the bustle of bars with live music, or prefer to relax with a cocktail at the ready, we’re here to give you the lowdown of where you should be visiting on your next night out.
Keep reading for a full in depth guide – you don’t want to miss it!
1. Academi
We had to kick off the best nightlife in Bangor list with Academi – Bangor’s very own student venue!
They work in partnership with Bangor University’s students union and aim to provide student nights unlike any other.
It’s mainly busy from Wednesday onwards, and Saturday is their dedicated student only night.
Whether you’re after a boogie on the dancefloor to a cheesy pop hit, or fancy chatting away in the booths with your pals, you’re automatically guaranteed a good night here.
Get following their Facebook page if you want regular updates of events happening. They even do a range of competitions to get involved in, so you kinda don’t want to miss out?!
2. The Skerries
For an all round fun atmosphere and friendly service, you need to get yourself down to The Skerries in the town centre.
The Skerries is your typical traditional boozer, with a range of delicious drinks and pub grub to order.
In the summer months, we recommend heading here to bask in the sunshine with a pint in your hand. They’re home to a large and well-maintained beer garden, perfect for socialising with your friends.
Keep an eye out for any live music events that are happening here, ‘cos this is definitely one of the places you might see an upcoming band.
3. Trilogy Nightclub
Previously Cube nightclub, Trilogy Nightclub is Bangor’s very own four roomed nightclub, ideal for students who like partying ‘til the AM and treating themselves to a kebab afterwards…we’ve all been there.
Firstly, they have a Barvarian themed bar, where you should expect an abundance of overfilled steins and crowds dancing on tables.
Their main room is home to a resident DJ who plays all the dance, chart and capital anthems.
For our RNB lovers, make sure to head to the Curved room. Decorated in graffiti style art, this floor is one of our favourites for sure.
And lastly, they couldn’t miss out on a cheesy pop room – right? For your mini Popworld haven, you can’t miss it. They’ve even decked it out with a disco floor, it just can’t get any better!
4. The Mostyn Arms
Here’s one for you to think about…what makes a good pub?
After much consideration and deliberation, we believe it’s cheap drinks, a pool and darts table, live sports, friendly service, and a great atmosphere.
If you agree with this (who wouldn’t?!) then you’re probably going to want to visit The Mostyn Arms!
It’s one of Bangor’s hidden in plain sight gems, with raving reviews online for you to read.
They EVEN host a pub quiz on a Thursday night for you to get involved in – so grab your friends and head down here for an unquestionably brilliant night!
5. Patricks Irish bar
You might think Bangor is in Wales but once you’ve stepped foot into Patricks Bar, you’ll be transformed into an Irish haven, just maybe without the accents…
They’re home to a fantastic selection of real ales, bitters and lagers, and of course, Guinness on draught!
It regularly has themed events for you to get involved in, from open mic sessions, karaoke nights to live music – really…what’s not to love about Patricks Bar?
6. Bar Uno
Located on Bangor University campus, Bar Uno is a brilliant place for students to visit when they’re not busy with deadlines.
Expect a modern interior and a buzzing atmosphere inside! It’s the hub of entertainment, with 6 screens showing a range of sporting events throughout the year.
Not only does it have an endless drinks selection, but you can also pop here for a mouth-watering meal with your mates.
7. The Black Bull Inn
Last, but certainly not least, The Black Bull Inn is Bangor’s very own Wetherspoons and is a popular venue for students.
This is probably down to it’s extremely cheap drinks, social atmosphere and overall popularity amongst students.
It’s located right on the High Street and is within easy access to all of our stunning student accommodation buildings, so we wouldn’t be surprised if this becomes a firm favourite in your list.
Does Bangor Have A Good Nightlife?
Overall, if you’re wondering what Bangor’s nightlife is like then we would summarise it as ‘one for all’. There’s definitely wayyyy more pubs to visit rather than nightclubs, so it really depends on what you’re looking for.
Sometimes those nights where you just have a delicious drink, chat with your pals and a karaoke mic are the best kinda memories you want to make.
It’s one of the UK’s smallest cities, so with that in mind, the selection you have here is really something else and we can imagine you would absolutely love it.
We hope you’ve enjoyed our run down of Bangor’s eventful nightlife, and possibly found somewhere for your next trip out. If you’d like to find more things to do in the day here, make sure to check out our blog – no need to thank us!
