Goal Setting
A great way to make sure that you make the most of your summer break from university is by setting clear goals on what you want to achieve.
It is important to not get too ambitious with your goals and overcommit yourself since at the end of the day it is your break and you want to feel well-rested before you get back to university again.
You can create small but clear goals like what habits you would like to adopt, what things you would like to try, and places you want to visit amongst many others.
It can even be smaller things like catching up with friends once a week and so on.
What matters is that you have a clear idea of what you would like to get done in the summer break so that the time doesn’t fly by and you have no idea what you did with it!
Self Reflect
Another amazing way to make sure that you start your next year with a fresh mindset is by reflecting on the previous year you have had.
You can write down all the things that you did well, things you wished you could do better and many others.
Doing so can help you understand what are your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to academics and beyond.
And if you feel like changing things for the upcoming year, you will know exactly what area to focus on!
Even if you had a really hard year, remember that you are doing what you can with the resources you have, and do not beat yourself up over things that you cannot control.
Be proud of yourself for all that you have achieved, you deserve it!
Learn a new skill
Summer break is the perfect time to try learning a new skill. This doesn’t necessarily have to be within your field. This could literally be anything that brings you joy!
Whether it is cooking, crocheting, learning a new language or even an instrument, you have ample time to learn something that you haven’t tried before.
Don’t put pressure on yourself to be great at it within a couple of months. You can try several things and if you are lucky, you might find a new hobby you really enjoy, and even if not, you will still have tried many cool things to be proud of!
Focus on your health
It is easy to neglect your health while at university especially if you are away from home, because of other commitments that you might have.
This is why, summer break is the ideal time for you to start focussing on your health again.
You can start being active in any way that you find fit. You don’t have to go to the gym 5 times a week just because everyone else is doing it. Find a routine that works best for you so that you can continue it even after starting university again.
You can try out different activities like running, yoga, and pilates among many others to see what you enjoy the most.
You can also create meal plans during the break so it takes the mental load off when you are at university, which can make healthy eating so much easier!
Network and Take up Internships
If you are in your last year of university and would like to prepare yourself for the corporate world, then internships and networking can be key strategies that can help you.
Even if you don’t know which field you want to get into, taking up internships can be a great way to find out what sparks your interest.
