Dorich House Museum is a Grade II listed building, being the former studio home of the sculptor Dora Gordine. Now owned by Kingston University, the hidden germ has the world's largest collection of Gordine's paintings, drawings and sculptures. This place is definitely worth a visit to appreciate the fascinating art on display as well as the lovely interior and the architecture. The museum and gallery now operate as a centre to promote and support creative women, and we love it! The studio café serves a selection of cakes, coffee, and tea so you can sit down and chill after taking a look around. You’ll find this place located just a 10-minute bus journey away from Kingston upon Thames town centre.

3. Experience The Nightlife At Bacchus Late Bar

4. Take A Stroll Through Richmond Park

When it comes to green spaces this place is top tier. Richmond Park is not only Kingston upon Thames largest park but it’s also London's largest royal park measuring 2,500 acres. You can hop on a bus ride and be there in 20-minutes! There are so many beautiful views to take in and you can even catch some amazing wildlife like the herd of 650 deer that roam the parks. The park’s also close-by to the Kingston Hill Campus so if you’re a student at the Kingston University, we’re sure you’ll be making some frequent trips around this green space! There are also a few cafes located across Richmond Park including the Georgian Tea Rooms, Pembroke Lodge and Roehampton Café. So, you can go for a walk after being at uni for the morning if you fancy it.

5. Go Shopping At The Bentall Centre

Moving to Kingston upon Thames means you’ll be able to cater for all your shopping needs with The Bentall Shopping Centre. Located in the heart of town on Wood Street, this four-floor shopping centre contains 75 stores including North Face, Zara, Apple and FatFace. If you need a few bits to get glammed up for a night-out or you want to jazz up your student flat, you can head here! 6. Enjoy Food & Drink At Poor Boys

Did someone say New Orleans style street food? Yep, they did! Poor Boys are an amazing independent bar and restaurant in Kingston upon Thames which you MUST try. Their menu features mouth-watering dishes like Fried Shrimp, Dirty Boy Burger and Beef Brisket Donuts, as well as American root beers, ales, cocktails and milkshake floats. The menu prices aren't half bad either. You’ll find this place located near the river and close to the Rose Theatre, but we must warn you, it does get very busy because it’s just that good!

7. Make The Most Of Transportation Links

Another great part about moving to Kingston upon Thames is its good transport links. The town is only 12 miles from Central London and 25-minute train journey away so, you can experience the big city life in the capital whenever you like! There are tons of travel options when you live here, and you can venture off to other towns like Richmond or Wimbledon super easily by bus or train. Being located on the River Thames means there’s also riverboat services with easy access too. The town is also close to Heathrow Airport and London’s motorway, the M25 which makes travelling across the country by car so easy. If you’re an international student or keen to make a few trips abroad, then Kingston is a half hour drive from Heathrow Airport. Gatwick Airport is just slightly further too being a 45-minute drive away!

8. The Cost Of Living

Studies have shown that Kingston upon Thames is 2.46% less expensive than London, which makes it a great place to live for students who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city centre and live in a more rural area.
